commodore problems

Hi There, I'm having an issue with my Holden commodore acclaim 2003. The heating doesn't work and it kept bringing the engine temp hot. mechanic check it and they replaced radiator and thermostat but still no car heater and hot engine temp sometimes, There's no leakage and had checked the head gasket it fine. I was thinking it mine be electrical problems. Please Help.

With the car running, does the heater tap actually move when going from cold to hot and back again. Have someone move the dial and You or someone ACTUALLY observe its movements. Do the heater hoses feel hot, could be a collapsed heater hose (internally)
