Hi all - after having the driver door power window fixed, a little while later the key lock/barrel of the door fell inside the door cavity. The window now won't open the full way. Occasionally, the car key and the spare key remote won't work so not having a door key entry is inconvenient.

I've rung a couple of automotive locksmiths, one said they didn't do that kind of work, the one he recommended said he'd come and have a look but never got back to me. Can anyone in Sydney recommend anyone to fix this type of problem?

It’s an easy fix if nothing is broken,

They don’t want to do because it’s all to hard, my guess, as they don’t have a clue how to fix it.

Give it a go yourself, make sure the window is up,
Remove the door trim,
Remove the security shield, dis-connect the arms on the lock,
Remove the door handle, and refit the barrel to the door handle fitting,
As all the parts would have fallen in the door anyway and sitting the bottom,
Refit the door handle,
Connect the arms,
Refit door trim.

How I know, as I had to remove the drivers door latch as it wasn’t locking correctly, I removed it,
(Also removed the door handle and cleaned that up)
Cleaned all the years of built up dust off it,
Dried it off with compressed air,
Re-lubbed it with Lithium spray grease, works perfectly now.

If you were close to me.
I’d get you to come around and i would do it for you,
Because it’s that easy.

Thanks Krusing. As amazing as I am at pulling things apart - I'm absolutely rubbish at putting them back together again! For this reason, I'd prefer someone else to have a look at it! ;)

I’ve actually posted the diagram for repairing this.

If not, take photo's.
