Engine decode

Can anyone decode this engine number - VG354188. Just got a vk and the rocker covers say 308 but im assuming it's a carby 304. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks fellas

sorry, i cut and pasted it and recent cornea transplant means its hard to read etc.
