no turbo or scharge. Did the spark cross over test for the each of the coil packs. All seemed fine.
Just did a multimeter OHMS resistance test on the coil packs and one of the coils showed zero resistance. Re-did the spark ( the arc between the poles) test
and again all seemed OK. has anyone else experienced this? Arcs OK but has no resistance. seems weird.

This should help.

Thanks for the info and taking the time to post. So the big questions is how can the coil pass three tests and fail one. All the while it is faulty and causing misfires. It passed all tests but failed one, that is, the ohms resistance test. because the coil passed the earlier tests I saw no need to ALSO do an ohms test so went to look for other causes for the misfire which took a lot of time.
Pulse test along spark lead, passed
arcing test, passed,
volts test with multimeter, passed.
OHMS test with multi meter failed.

Arc test? Not heard of it? Pulse test? same thing.

It's hard to test coils because of the high voltages involved when they are operating. An internal short in the windings may show the coil to function ok when testing but to breakdown under load in real world conditions.

ARC test. Remove spark plus leads from 1 coil ( i.e 2 spark plus leads) turn engine to run or crank engine and an electrical ARC forms between the two nodes on the coil. This test confirms electrical current is reaching the coil.

That might be so but at best it's a basic functionality test. TBH, I don't know how good that would be for the coils either.

Its one of a number of possible tests. With coils, as with other systems, one test in rarely enough.
