Make sure you get an amplifier which is 1ohm stable, in that case.

That is why I recommended two 4 ohm subs as 2 ohm stable mono amps are much more common than 1 ohm stable mono amps required for two 2 ohm subs.

Maybe go read some of this website... Basic Car Audio Electronics

I didn't read this at first, right you are. Either 4ohm subs and 2 ohm stable amplifier, or 2ohm subs and 1ohm stable amplifier (if you plan to have 2 of each later) as Stone said, 2ohm stable amps are cheaper/more readily available than 1ohm stable.

Yes... When you buy the first sub and the 2 ohm stable amp the amp will just run at 4 ohm until you put the second sub in parallel.

Blown VS Calais !!
Any amp that has a rating of 800rms ish @ 2ohm will be perfect , just make sure its reputable brand , prob going to be around $500 mark for that much power and quality.

I was making the two 2ohm sub suggestion based on using an amp from Jaycar :p the Kenwood 2ohm stable, 900watt rms amp is cheap and nasty.

thank you, so with a amp that is around 800rms @ 2ohm will the give me 400rms per sub?

Will that sound just as bassy and just as loud as 2 x 2ohm subs at 400rms per sub?

Cheers for all ya help.
