Hi all, i've gone searching through these forums for days now and found alot of posts about possible upgrade paths and parts for the ecotec. But none on what people have seen as the highest power output the engine is capable of achieving.

I'm interested in maxing the engine out n/a style as its going in a small car that must be roadworthy in qld. So no forced induction over 2.5L.

What figures have people seen??
TIA.

You might want to start with posting in the right section!

They made about 300bhp naturally aspirated back in the old formula 3000 days. It had individual throttle bodies which would sound mad and give good hp up high in the rpm range which the ecotech engine really lacks

However did we find this post when it was in the wrong section? It's the only way he can stay relevant on a car forum....

If you're not going the FI route can I ask why the interest in an Eco of all choices? You could push 300hp out of an Eco N/A but at probably 5 times the cost of an LS conversion and it'll be prone to breaking, costing you even more.

I think it has to do with displacement limitations for registration purposes.

Having said that, I know of someone fitting a L67 in a gemini although I don't know if they intend to make it 100% legal.....

Yes, my apologies gents. Once i hit the post button i realised that it wasnt going to go into the right section. So fair call.

On the choice for the eco, it is as immortality said. In qld the legal requirements for and engine swap in a gemini is 4L n/a and 2.5L fi. I originally planned for the l67 and had tge entire thing priced up ready to go the i spoke to engineers

I know your state is like 5 minutes from martial law but isn't that what an engineering cert is for? I'm never surprised though, by what your engineer has said you could put a 400hp RB25T or SR20DET but no... a 308 red is dangerous...

Those are both extremely popular engines to drop into the geminis as they dnt require different engine mounts i think. But your 100% on the money haha
