Just some advice on anyone removing the Balancer off a VE V8 Auto, a trick I use instead of locking the Flywheel, is to tie some stong rope through the Balancer and around the Sway bar which is located directly below it. Then you can undo the bolt with the rope holding the Balancer in place. Its worked perfectly for me and many others in the past. Also can be done when doing up the bolt and torquing it back.
