Well....Interesting round with a few surprises. Broncos let the Colts get too far ahead. It was a pretty good fightback but just fell short in the end. Makes next week interesting with the 'Skins having played so well today. Their offense is starting to work well and I think Denver could be in trouble if their D doesn't improve. Chiefs - Texans was a close one, who'd have thought the team that went 2-14 last year would be the only undefeated team 7 weeks into the season? Their next 2 are very winnable games, although the Bills looked better today. Loved that punt return, especially the look on Rocca's face afterwards. Shoulda stayed at Collingwood :p

It was a frustrating game to watch. You could see it in Manning's face he was frustrated with the way he was playing and that he was turning over the ball. He threw it up too much hoping for a big play instead of working Wes underneath. And yes next week will be a tougher assignment with Washington hitting some form. Denver's D should be better next week as well. I expected more out of them this week but Woodyard (he said he was playing all week) was held out of the game and he is a big part of the defense.

That of course leaves the Chiefs as the only undefeated team and so far they have been able to stay healthy unlike the Broncos.

Vikings vs Giants should be interesting today. I wonder what Freeman will do as the new starting QB for the Vikes.

The Giants got their first win of the year last night against the terrible Vikes. Josh Freeman threw something like 58 passes, 28 or so in the 4th quarter alone, for 20 completions. If the Vikes keep deciding to keep the ball out of AP's hands (14 touches total on the night) then they will continue to lose.

Anyway... I found this, I think Andy Reid was happy about beating Houston. (Side joke about him being the Kool-Aid man)

Wrap of week 8's games.

Tampa lost again, hopefully their head coach is gone soon.

Detroit came back late and beat Dallas (choked again) in the game of the day. Megatron took over setting the record for most receiving yards in a game EDIT: May have had this wrong, second most in a game. If you missed the headlines from the week Dez had been comparing himself to Megatron, in his view he believes he is the better receiver. Let's just say he wasn't very happy about how this game went down. Dez Bryant unhappy with Tony Romo in sideline spat - NFL.com

49ers hammered the Jags in London, the Chiefs were pushed by Cleveland, Saints got by the Bills and the Giants got their second win of the year against the Eagles. Interestingly for the Giants after losing 6 straight they are only 2 games behind division leading Dallas.

Pats beat the 'Fins. Tom Brady didn't have a very good day but was helped out by his defense who made plays like this...

Bengals hammered the Jets, Oakland got by the Steelers and surprisingly the Falcons lost to the Cards. (Cards quietly putting together a good season)

The Broncos had a return to form this week beating up RG3 and the rest of the Washington squad. The Broncos started the second half badly falling behind on turnovers but fought back. Once in the lead the defense took over getting 4 picks in the last quarter. One DRC took 75 yards for a pick six, he high stepped to the endzone from 50 out.

Big props to Garcon, who took maybe the catch of the year...

The Packers are currently handling the Vikes in the late game.

'Hawks play the Rams tomorrow in the last game of the round.

Number two, Woodyard's illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on Cousins (He should get fined for this).
818006538_zps6d77261e.gif

This slow-mo is pretty cool because it shows the lack of protection the older style helmets provide. Here the facemask absorbs the entire hit and passes on all the force through the helmet causing it to move back off the head before slamming back down. Newer helmets with a different design of facemask absorb this hit better and dissipate it around the sides of the helmet. Note: On both these plays it was number 71, Trent Williams getting his QB killed.

In the final game of the week the Seahawks just got passed the Rams in a defensive battle. The 'Hawks had to stop the Rams on their own one yard line with 4 seconds to go to get the victory.

Onto Week 9!

It has been an interesting week of football so far. First two head coaches had to be hospitalised. John Fox the Broncos HC went to hospital over the weekend and had heart surgery today, he is likely to miss the rest of the regular season. Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio will take over as interim head coach.

While Gary Kubiak Texans HC was taken to hospital at half-time of their game. He felt light headed and dizzy (much the same as Fox) and was taken from the field where he is still taking tests today. His team up 21-3 at the half went on to lose the game. A few of the players mentioned seeing their coach leave like that had their minds elsewhere. Gary Kubiak will stay in hospital for at least 24 hours - NFL.com

Also there is the interesting case of Richie Incognito, Richie Incognito directed racial slur at Jonathan Martin - NFL.com, who has been bullying OT Martin since he joined the team causing his break down last week. There are troubled times ahead for the 'Fins.

Game wrap up, Bengals lost to the 'Fins in double OT. Chiefs just got by the Bills thanks in large part to a 100 yard pick six. Falcons continue to lose, this time to the Panthers who are on a 4 game winning streak. Cowboys beat Vikes in a close one. Saints lost to the Jets, as Rex Ryan is now 5-0 against his brother's teams. CJ2k came out to help the Titans get past the Rams. Washington beat the Chargers. Eagles hammered the Raiders and QB Foles threw 7 TDs! Equalling the current record which Peyton Manning did the same at the start of the year. Tampa collapsed in a heap again losing to the 'Hawks after leading much of the game. Browns finally got a win against the Ravens! New England destroyed Pittsburgh and Colts came back to beat Houston as mentioned above.

Week 10 Wrap up!

Another interesting week with a ton of close games. But first both teams without a victory this year managed to sneak out wins! The Jaguars toppled the Titans and the Bucs got past the 'Fins who have been struggling with the internal organisation turmoil. The 08 Lions can rest easy knowing they will probably ever be the only 0-16 team.

In other results, Vikings beat Washington as AP returned to form. The Beast (Marshawn Lynch) lead the Hawks past the Falcons in an easy win.

The Ravens beat the Bengals in overtime with a FG but this play to get the Bengals to overtime was pure magic. (They should have gone for two though)
c431b4ee-6131-4ea1-a9c1-34ec78dd53c0.gif

In other games, Lions beat the Bears after Cutler got injured again. Rams dominated the troubled Colts. Giants beat Oakland, Steelers beat the Bills and in the upset of the week the Panthers beat the 49ers. Cards beat Houston, Saints hammered the Cowgirls and lastly the Broncos did it easy against the Chargers.

This sets up the game of the round for week 11 when the Chiefs 9-0 visit the Broncos 8-1. It is time we found out if the Chiefs are for real. Side note, Bowe was arrested over the weekend on pot charges. Dwayne Bowe arrested on multiple charges in Missouri - NFL.com

Week 11 wrap up!

Another great week in the NFL. It started off with the Colts roaring back to win 30-27 after being down 17-6 at half time against the Titans. Bills then hammered the Jets (who have gone win-loss so far all season), the Bears got passed the Ravens in overtime. The Bengals spotted the Browns 13 points before scoring 31! in the second quarter to run away with the game. Raiders defeated Houston who continues their slide. Cards beat the Jags, Eagles won their third straight against Washington and the Steelers upset Detroit.

Atlanta lost to the hopeless Bucs who have now won two in a row! Falcons are 2-8 on the year after playing in the championship game last season. Fin's beat Chargers. Saints defeated the 49ers in a cracker of a game. Giants beat the back-up Packers and the Seahawks handled Minnesota.

In what was billed the game of the week but the Broncos handled the Chiefs with ease, giving the last undefeated team their first lose. This was a great game to watch and such a defensive battle. I do believe the Chiefs defense is legit and managed numerous times to get Manning off the field. But their offense isn't very good. Take Charles out of the game plan and they seem lost, they lack depth at receiver and Alex Smith won't win many games with his arm. It will be an interesting rematch in two weeks. Will both teams be 10-1 then?

The game of the week though was probably the close battle between the Pats and Panthers on MNF. This game went right down to the wire and ended on a controversial decision by the refs. The Panthers ended up holding on for victory. The game included plays like this...
cam-newton-escape-from-new-england.gif

In total a 72 yard run for a 14 yard gain.

Another week in the books, onto week 12 as we get towards the business end of the season!

Week 12 wrap up!

First the boring games.

Saints 17 - Falcons 13
Ravens 19 - Jets 3
Steelers 27 - Browns 11
Jags 13 - Houston 6, Jags have now won two games the same amount as Houston (former playoff team and who is now in line for the number pick in the draft)
Rams 42 - Bears 21
Colts 11 - Cards 40, What happened Colts?
49ers 27 - Washington 6

Now the interesting games and there were a lot.

Tampa Bay won their third straight game against the Detroit Lions. They scored with under 2 mins left to take the lead and kept it. They picked off Stafford for the 4th time on the last drive to win the game.

The Vikings and Packers played out to a tie. It was going all the Vikings way early before the Packers finally pulled Tolzien and inserted Flynn at QB. The Packers roared back to force overtime where they played to a tie.

The Chargers and Chiefs played in a cracker that finished 41-38 to the Chargers. The lead changed 4 times in the final quarter before the Chargers won. For the Chiefs this is their second lose in a row and next week they have the 9-2 Broncos at home.

Both the Panthers and Titans won their close games late with TD passes.

The Cowboys surprisingly were led by Romo on a late drive to get the FG and the win against the Giants.

Finally the Pats got it done in freezing conditions at home against the Broncos. The Broncos took a 24-0 lead into the half after getting 4 turnovers before the Pats got 3 of their own to reel them in. This game went to overtime and was almost destine to end in a tie before a muffed punt by the Broncos was recovered by the Pats who kicked the FG to take the win.
