Hey,

I have a Vt and it has a whinging noise coming from the engine area, I've been told this is an air con bearing (the bottom one to the right).
Then my air con stopped working and the whinging noise isn't there while driving above 20km p/h but it's really bad when the car is ideling at around 1000rpm. And it doesn't make a difference if the aircon is on or off?
Just wondering if anyone knows exactly what the bearing is called and how much roughly to fix it? I've heard that I can't do it from home as you need a special tool for the one thats broken??
Sorry if I sound like an idiot, I'm just trying to explain it lol. :hmmm:

Thanks!

it can be done at home but isn't a simple task. there was a thread about it a while ago which had a full exploded diagram of the AC pump and good instructions on how to disassemble and replace the bearing.

we used to have a special section for AC problems but it seems to have disappeared some time ago.

FYI this is polls section :)

HAHA! i am the missus lol, thats why i dont know what im talking about :p

Haha well get your man out of there then.

But serioulsy i would be checking the idler tensioner first. The spring has problably lost tension making the bearings rattle around.
