Not sure why but the manual says approx 4.8 litres including filter.

Thank you for the advice so 4.3 for a VS with including filter and 4.8 including a filter for a VX and also is does a VY take 4.8 as well?

One more question is there a difference between a series 1 and a series 2 motor oil capacity?

4.8 seems to be the ‘dry’ fill volume. 4.3 sounds close to what a typical filter change needs. When I rebuilt my engine, 4.8 was close to what I needed for the first prime and fill but bear in mind the galleries, lifters and internal surfaces stay filled after the first prime and start up. Must be close to half a litre difference. Series 1, 2 and 3 are the same.

I use about 4.8 litres when I do oil change on the Calais which puts the oil level a bit over the full mark on the dip stick.
