When this happened to me I put her up on the hoist, for better leverage, then bashed a smaller ring spanner onto the plug and got it off that way. Ensure you buy a new sump plug first though lol.

DO it haydz style and bash a socket onto it.

Or do what me and a few mechanics once did and weld another bolt onto the sump plug, But we did it with a diff sump plug...

Grinding a flat edge on either side of the nut to either get a smaller open ended spanner, or vice grips or stilsons onto...

-------------------------------

But, come on, it can not be that tight?? A single hex socket, or stilsons/vice grips adjusted right up, have all worked for me and every mechanic I know. In that order too.
All of which have been mentioned numerous times in here

So, O/P, how did you go with it??

i dunno bout the angle grinder, not having ago but its an awkward spot to grind in specially if ya not the greatest with a grinder lol...
like i said earlier i've had the same problem on my car..jus stick welded another nut on top and it came off no hassles..the heating of the original sump nut during the welding process probably helped loosen it too...
