I have been watching this thread with interest since it started. I have been looking at getting an exhaust for some time and after reading through all you responses, i think i have deceided on getting the xforce. Now my only question is 2.5 or a 3 inch. I just want a nice note out the back and not something that will end up pissing the neighbours off. I leave at 5:30 AM and dont want to wake the street.

So what do you guys think? Is stainless worth the extra money or is it just for show?

Yea mate, I posted a comment about it earlier in this thread but no one said anything so I figured no one cared lol.
That’s it though, KPM ‘apparently’ re-brand stuff just like Walkinshaw. When I was still keen for KPM I got my exhaust shop to look into if for me because they said they could supply it no worries. Anyway they were looking at the gear KPM sells on the net and noticed they had the same stuff sitting in their shop. So he called KPM up and they confirmed this with him on the phone. He started asking a bit more into it and he got a few brand names out of them but they wouldn’t tell him the catback exhaust brand.
Anyway this was one of the turn off factors for me, plus the insane price!

Hmm… I don’t actually know the end amount mine was lowered, just know I got “Pedders Sports Ryder Springs” chucked on there and have left the shocks stock. I dunno it they’ve got different heights to suit the stock shocks or not.

Hey mate, glad you’ve followed my thread. Hope it has helped!

Go the Xforce  is your SSV a Ute?

As you would have seen, I have just gone the 3” and love it. Depends what your after though, I wanted a loud exhaust so I got the 3”.
The 2.5” will be surely quieter, I heard a couple and they weren’t loud enough for me.

The one and only question I struggled with… Stainless or Mild haha. Go stainless, I’m a stainless man now :) even though you won’t notice much/if any note difference. It feels so good to have stainless.

Hey maccas. Was calling around about finding cheaper xforce. Spoke to trev at muffler man in prahan. He been in game for 35 years. They customise the hm headers catback that walkinshaw also rebrand. He says they take all drone out and for 1700 in stainless will make it as loud as you wAnt. Albeit it a 2.5". If I drive away and not like its note he can for free correct it less or more. He believes most of his younger customers are unhappy xforce customers complaining of drone.

I so close after your review on yours of going the xforce. Then someone comes along and pees on my parade! I think after all posts, threads and phonecalls I am none the wiser!!!

From what I have read ‘HM Headers’ specialise in Headers/Extractors and they team up with ‘Perry’ for their catback exhausts?
From memory we spoke about Perry exhausts earlier on in this thread and they were on Ebay for less than $1,700 (I could be wrong on that one).

So this guy orders them in and then plays with them to change drone and volume? Sounds like a sales pitch to me lol. I dunno how the hell they would do that without chopping and changing bits of it. Unless Varex?
I would only want the people who built my exhaust playing with it if I was buying it brand new!
Never know what quality work they will do. Although on the other hand I guess you could have stumbled onto something good. Never know mate.

Plus it’s only a 2.5”…

From what I gather, KPM make the system but outsource the mufflers. I think the design of the system is done by KPM.

Hi Josh. Mate if you're worried about upsetting the neighbours, run with the 2.5. They have a 'quiet' or 'medium' option. The quiet one will still have a big of a rumble at idle and will bark under load but will be much subtler than the medium. Maccas, from what I understand, has the medium 3 inch, with the loud being a track only unit. Read the flow rates as increasing from quiet to loud. If you're keeping the rest of the car stock or nearly stock then any size will be ok. But if you plan kids like cams then you'll need the increased flow of a 3 inch. The idea is that a 2.5 will retain heat in the gasses better so they can move faster through the system and 'scavenge' of actually help with pulling gasses out of the cats. Merge pipes help with this also, much the same way that well designed headers will extract gasses from the exhaust ports in the motor and prevent any back flow. There is some evidence that a 3 inch will not maintain the same heat in the exhaust gasses from a stock or nearly stock motor as the rate of flow from the motor is not sufficient.

But the difference in day to day driving would be minimal so your best option is to go with the sound you like best.

Ok update from the wig. Today I was off. All day,sad I know I went over threads, google etc as I have to get this catback before I go away. I was originally sold on kpm as u know but I can't vouch for their genuineness as some members have good info they are rehashed. Thanks to maccas I was really keen on the xforce but I not want drone as I do lots of highway. But I couldn't find a place in Melbourne that could get anywhere near his price he got for $1350. Even the distributor in Vic said that was trade price. Good on ya maccas. Nearest I got was 1600.

Nonetheless I need something drone free, stainless and xforce prices. I remember tinsnips mentioning vcm. I fired them an email. They called me back within one minute! Had good chat to scott and I was gunning for the 3" but he said the 2.5k was barkier and the 3" was but quieter. So it's stainless, drone free and he quoted me 1650 fitted. It's booked in for next week.

I happy with what I seem of the vcm and I so over choosing I hope this is the right choice!

Nice one Wigs. They're a really good bunch of guys down at VCM. I've been talking to Joel. Their 2.5 is the odds on favourite for what I'll be fitting. Actually considering the road trip down to autotechnique. But its not hassle for them to ship it up here either. VESSME has one on his car and loves it. But you don't see too many going around, which I like. I'm looking at fitting their OTR at the same time and will later add their short headers and a tune. I'm really impressed with a lot of their gear and the way they deal with customers. Everything seems to be pretty well priced as well.

When are you going in for it?
