personally I think they should just change it to GT3
On a game-changing day for the sport ahead of this weekend’s season ending Sydney 500 it was revealed that from 2017:
● A V8 engine will no longer be compulsory;
● TURBO engines, four cylinder engines and six cylinder engines will be allowed to compete alongside V8 engines;
● TWO-door coupe body styles will be admitted into the sport as long as they have a back seat;
● ALL cars will continue to use the current “Car of the Future’’ chassis as their base; and
● ALL current “control components’’ will be compulsory with more to be developed.

On question, can you turbo charge the V8?

Bit hard to get parity between a n/a V8 and turbo 4's and 6's. They may have the same total power/torque however they will have much different torque curves.

I haven't really watched supertaxi's this year, didn't even see Bathurst, much rather watch something like muscle cars.

VX II Acclaim Wagon.
It's more fun when they actually look different to each other and have more than just a different engine.

Muscle Cars, GTs, Mod. Production even.

V8 HQ have done a good marketing job to the public but racing fans are less convinced.

I heard today that Lexus might be entering as well , I think if they open it up to 4 & 6 cylinder cars it might make it interesting again .

According to James Warburton, "A key area will be retaining the acoustic effect of high powered race cars".

This was always going to happen with the death of Commodore and Falcon. Hopefully it might become a bit more interesting.
