myself and a mate (mischa)

there are 3 options.
Find a Manual Vr Computer And Loom
Get the auto Mem-Cal Re tuned to run the manual Gearbox
Use the Manual Computer and Loom out of a vn-vp commodore which will still require a re programming of the mem cal

First of all good work on the write up.
i have a question about using the a VN-VP ecu/memcal and loom in a VR. Why does it need to be re-programmed?

I own a vr v6 calais and brought a complete Vp with a manual. did the whole conversion on the weekend but the loom and ecu. runs fine but i ended up with 8 engine codes which i know i would.

Should i use the VP loom and ecu/memcal Or just get a new ecu programed for manual with (as they say +17 HP) for around $150-$200
or send mine off and get that done.
And if so where can i get this done in SA?

the speed sensor and back up switch Im not concerned about at the moment.

any help appreciated and thanks in advance

hey bud.

definitely use the vp ecu and loom. its a fair bit of work swapping the entire loom. but its worth it.

good luck mate. and also speak to greenfoam on here he will give you a nice tune to get you going that bit quicker

As far as i know the Boxes are the same and would be fine its the motor that has to be changed in the S1 VN or a CRS adaptor plate and custom flyweel made up for it, but if you have a VR motor and the box should just be a bolt up job.

Just wait for some1 to confirm it :p

the crs adaptor kit. is to fit a vn series 1 flywheel to a vn series 1 auto motor. as they are both 6 bolt. just arranged differently. to get it to work on your car. you will need an 8 bolt flywheel from a vn series 2 up to a vr.

hope this helps.

i recently purchased a full conversion kit out of a vp to go in a vr and i recevied all the wiring looms and manual computer to go with it. Just wondering how the gearbox loom will connect up to the car. Its a resonably sized black connector with 9 wires in it. Does this just replace the loom that runs to the auto selector or do i have to do a "cut and paste" job on it lol. Sorry if this is confusing

First off you cant use a VP ecu in a VR. Theyre chalk and cheese.

You will need a VR manual ecu, or from memory you can modify the auto loom and get a tune to suit.
