so i did a PPSR report on a car i was looking at

for those whose dont know what that is, its basically a report you pay to find out if a car youre looking at is:

    - registered
    - has money owing on it
    - if its been written off
    - collision report

    and a few other things.

so i paid to do the report - i entered in the VIN number as requested and it brought up the report.

the part i was most curious about (if its been in a collision) came up with this

i was like wtf? so i sent a email saying theres a problem with their system, because i copied the VIN directly from VICroads website.

they call me up and say "no, there isnt a fault with the system" its my fault. im like ummm ok how? even tho the site asked for the VIN, if i wanted the collision report i should have entered the engine number?? i was getting a little fumed im like what the fks the difference? i paid to have a report for the vehicle that comes up in your system - your system even lists the engine number. now why cant you just email me the full report? shes like oh noooo you will have to pay again.

im like huh? im not scamming the system, ive paid, so just provide me with the relevant information your company offers.

she refused completely to give me the full report unless i paid again. basically i paid to get a report that vicroads provide for free on their website.

Put a complaint on their facebook page. No one takes anything seriously till they start getting bad publicity about it.

Wait, in order to get a collision report, which would more often that not only affect body components, you need to provide the engine number which has the possibility of being swapped?

That makes no sense. I want to know if the chassis (VIN) has had a collision, not the engine.

Don't pay twice. I'd be fighting it, ask for supervisors, get on facebook etc etc

That attitude is about right for todays 'customer service' people.
Doesn't matter if its a bank, NRMA, electricity provider, Govt agency, ..... if it's not within their sphere of knowledge, you are just baffling them with logic, and they can't answer anything other than what they have been told to do.
    Frustrating as all s**t.

Why is it that Sheldon's posts seem to be appearing where they weren't before ?

I've noticed it a few times now in the last couple of days.
