Nolathane VY Suspension Pictures

GDAY EVERYONE....

I have those photos now posted below.... Spent about $398 in these 4 parts.
I Have not installed them yet but ill show you before and after shots.
In the previous above posts i said that i wasnt going to get bushes yet and wait
until i reach 200,000km (Done 158,000 now...) but though why no ill get the bushes
now front and back.

Nolathane VY REAR IRS KIT
VY-Rear-IRS-Kit.gif

Nolathane VY REAR CONTROL ARM OUTER
VY-Rear-Control-Arm-Outer.gif

Nolathane VY REAR SWAYBAR LINK
VY-Rear-Swaybar-Link.gif

With the above parts i have set them out on the table... Notice they supply you with greese aswell....

IRS KIT...
Only Fit the new kit to the Inner Pivot Mount only on VS Series 2 Onwards.
Put it up on a hoist and remove rear wheels / Exhaust Hangers and support.
Diconnect the Swaybar from Control Arm assembly
Because i had to remove these parts is why i purached the other bushes aswell.

This is how you remove the parts to install kit.

As you can see from the picture you get
4x Urethane Bushes
2x Eccentric Crush Tubes
2x Bolts 50mm
2x Bolts 25mm
2x Lock Nuts
4x Spring washers
1x grease satchel

The alignment is obtained by turing the head of the bolt to gain the desired specs
Once you have reached the required amount use the Control Arm Bolt to lock.

Torque Specs on Control Arm Bolt are 95 to 105Nm
Wheel Align. Specs
Camber -1.5 +/- 0.5 Degree (each Wheel)
Toe +1mm +/- 0.2mm

Probably best to get a Lic. Mechanic or workshop to get the job done..
Your Comments and help is most welcome...
Next ill purchase the front and ill show you before and after pictures of my rear too.
Still not sure if im going to go coilovers or just pedders shocks.. ????
Its a ute so only coilover fronts...
But ill purchase the front bushes...

In my previous post i mensioned that my ute was up for a major service so here are some of the Service checks made to your VY UTE.....
Remember if your a lax person with your servicing then every 27 months no matter what Brake,Clutch and Engine Coolant Fluids must be replaced.
Fuel Filter and Seal(in-Tank) must be changed every 210,000km

Keeping your VY UTE in prestin condition your wheels should be Balanced and rotated every 10,000km.
Change your Engine oil and filter / check all fluid levels Brake, Steering, clutch, Transmission and Radiator.
Check the battery electrolyte and fluid levels.
Engine accessory drive belts, check the length indicator and belt condition.
Check for Signs of deterioration, leaks from the engine, air ducts all hoses and clamps.

Check final drive and transmission for leaks
Inspect front and rear disc pads and discs for wear and tear.
Inspect tyres for wear, damage and air pressure.
Check all brake and fuel lines for attachment, leaks, condition and routing.
Inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damage / wear / condition
Inspect exhaust system and underbody.. look for damage / leaks / holes / loose connections.
Inspect all Velocity joints for damage / torn boots and propshaft rubber couplings for tears and splits.
Check and lubricate transmission shift linkage (Automatic)
Inspect oil pan sheild for damage / loose or missing parts

Check park brake operation

VY Pedders XA Extreme Coilovers Ute

Gday Everyone.....

Next im going to purchase some Pedders Coilovers for my VY UTE...

PN: 160032 for the pedders VY UTE kit.... $1950 unfitted.
My mechanic mate said he will see what they go for TRADE price looking only at a 5% discount...
Pedders Front 30mm Swaybar is $277
Pedders Rear 18mm Swaybar is $245

VYXACoiloverPedderKitUte2.jpg

The Pedders Holden VY Ute XA coilovers are a really serious piece of kit...
This kit will improve your utes handling and cornering.
Your Ute can be tailored to suit any Austrtalian road conditions.

46mm High Pressure Niitrogen Monotube Construction for incredible Control with a
30 Position adjustable bound and rebound damping settings using a positive click to tune process that eliminates all the guess work.
High Strength Steel Strut Clevis designed for optimal strength.
Threaded Tube / Mount Height Adjustable, Consistant spring rate with advance alloy motorsport coils
Springs remain preloaded and range of travel regardless of setting remains the same, only requires 2mm of spring load.
Top Strut mounts included.
OEM Compatible bracketry like brake line and ABS lines just like factory clip into place.
0 is the softest setting (factory they say) and 30 the hardest track days..

DO NOT USE AIR GUNS ON YOUR VY HOLDEN UTE PEDDERS XA COILOVERS

Pedders say XA coilovers can be fitted to vehicles if:
- Vehicle remains roadworthy height and cannot be adjusted below that.
- Height of Vehicle must be fixed.

Over the past 4 months i have purchaced all these parts which i have posted in previous posts.
Relating to suspension Like the Nothlane F/B Bushes, IRS kits, Swaybars Etc and thought ill give my 2c why i did this !!!

Im like most of the people out there when lowering there utes just thrown in a set of King Superlow springs and off you go..
But trust me over time your OEM shocks or standard shocks just wont cut it with the lowered height.
Bumps, Scraps and whacks will be painfull on your bushes and springs not to mension your back...
Searching the different forums and websites for information was a great help

My ute has done about 170,000km now and when i put my King Springs in it was around the 60,000km...
So as you can see i have done alot of Kms with the OEM shocks and now they are dead completely. May aswell take them out and just riding on springs...
My Bushes have now probably completely gone too and as i said in a previous post
The front radius bushes are made of rubber material which are one of the sloppiest points of the holden front end and he lies one of the biggest causes of poor
tyre wear because these mushy bushes effect the caster and the loss of camber gain in turns. Also effect braking as they allow front wheel to move in relation to the chassis.
Holdens from factory and using Mcpherson struts have excessive play in most of the suspension points as alignment spec can vary.

So this is why i went Notholane Bushes F/B but with the shocks i was thinking of going the SportRyder Shocks Front and Back that was built for lowered suspension
which is also the cheaper option at around $750 F/B kit. Pedders but i would of still have to purchase front strut mounts Nothlane at $225.
Which still is not promised to solve the hard ride problem and i still wanted the same ride height i have now..
The handling and ride height of my ute is fine but because turbo will going in down the track and some track days
i justi thought ill get F/B. Swaybars and XA Coilovers.

Because im keeping my ute forever i diddnt mind spending the hard earned but its everyone to ones own..

VYXACoiloverPedderKitUte.png

Cannot wait until get my ute done...
Getting it done in the new year before and after pictures will come too..
When they are installed ill post up settings from 0-30 F/B we play around with height damper etc...
Untill then...

Holden VY V6 Ute Differential / Gear ratio / Harrop Cover

G'day everyone Merry Xmas Happy New Year !!!!!!
Wow 2,357 views thx peoples.....

While I wait to get my Suspension done in 2 weeks I thought about the next modification to done which is the differential LSD.
Maybe a Harrop Differential Cover and a new gear ratio aswell.

Holden 03 VY V6 Ute Manual has Open Differential NOT LSD and 3.46 ratio.
Because our Utes have open differential these diff's attempt to distribute power equally to both wheels but will prefer to send
power to the path of the least resistance which when cornering the outside wheel is turning fastest so most of the power is transmitted througth it.

This enables the ute to turn smoothly around corners but if one wheels is struggling for traction it will get all the power
which in turn will cause spinning and the downside is when spinnng the power will be lost to the other wheel.
When accellerating it can make it hard to get power down to the ground.
When driving hard into corners if one wheel loses traction lifts off the ground and power is still being applied open diff's will transfer
the power to the none traction wheel causing it to spin and your ute in the process.

Limited Slip Differential helps over come this but locking the driven wheels together when power is put
down but still allowing some slip for the outside wheel in a corner giving better traction when under accelleration
this results in a more stable ute in the driven wheels when cornering / Traction

hence the name Limited Slip Differential ( LSD )
A Kaaz Differential is the way to go for an upgrade to old open diff.

KAAZ LSD $1995
kaaz5.gif

KAAZ INSTALLION SHEET GUIDE...

The Kaaz differential is a circuit racing hardcore motorsport product but still with daily driver driveability.

The friction plates an area between the clutch which determines how much torque an LSD can transfer.
Kaaz differential have the largest friction plate surface of any aftermarket limited slip differentials ( so they say )

The biggest friction area the better the grip the plate gets therefore creating more torque the LSD can transfer with out slipping.
The larger plates allow heat to be distributed evenly so no overheating.
Very robust, fast acting transfering torque to road.

Offers upto 100% locking in a precise and progressive unit so the driver has confidence to go to the limit and beyond.
The kaaz differential clutch plates are made of high forged construction which makes them light weight and tough.
Differential is adjustable to give the optimum lock for your needs.

Consistensly transferring to the wheels time after time.
The differences between 1, 1.5 and 2 is a term used to discribe the
operation of the cams within the kaaz differential.

HARROP DIFFERENTIAL COVER $500
Harrop-differential-cover.gif

This cover is a great aftermarket upgrade which will stabilizes the diff mount with a reinforced case that provides better cooling and increased oil
capacity which will reduce or stop that dreaded axle tramp weights 30kg.

The rear centre mount attaches to cover and is responsible for controlling movement and maintaining pinion angle.
Spreads the load out over a greater area by using 2 bushes each to the side of the cover.

Less differential flex results in minimized wheelhop and quicker response to braking and accelleration.
When an aftermarket 3in exhurst modification or cat back is installed be carefully that it's not to close to the diff
causing melted bushes to differential.

The Gear Ratio ill be leaving as is at the moment 3.46.1 ratio..

BILLET VY V6 GETRAG SHORT SHIFTER $450

getrag-short-shifter.gif

what the hell was Holden thinking with the standard VS-VY 5spd shifter?!
Billet Products set out to bring back the driving spirit and performance to an otherwise dull experience with the standard shifter.
As with the entire Billet Pro series range, over 35% throw reduction has been achieved and, as always, an unmatched crisp and
precise feel only found in Billet Products shifters.

The standard shift height and position is retained, with each shift body precision CNC machined from specially selected billet aluminium
and utilises high grade steel shafts, providing the perfect combination of strength and performance for the most demanding of driving conditions.

For the pviot assembly, specially selected high tech materials are used to give incredibly smooth and precise movement.
Furthermore, ingeniously designed fully adjustable positive stops add a little extra insurance for your wallet against overshifting and damaging synchros.
Anodising and high tech steel coatings are just the icing on the cake to what are arguably the best shifters on the market, period.

VY V6 PBR 2 PISTON BRAKE UPGRADE $2395
pbrdiskbrekekit.jpg

PBR Performance brake upgrade kits deliver significant performance benefits. As a complete vehicle upgrade these
ADR compliant systems incorporate larger twin-piston front calipers, performance friction material front and rear,
larger grooved and vented rotors and steel braided brake hoses.

Seems that you have a bit of work ahead of you mate. Will be good to see some pics when you get the coilovers installed.
Personally in my opinion, i would steer clear of anything pedders, as they are of cheap quality (like i said, my opinion). I have had numerous pedders suspension components and they just dont last.
I noticed you were also saying that alot of people throw in King springs in at lowered heights and leave standard shocks in and that causes premature wear on those components and that they complain and what not, those "Rookies" need to do there homework before attempting to do modifications. Its there fault if they wear there stuff out earlier.

Anyway mate, keep up the good work

Thanks for your support guys the kaaz differential will cost $1995
I'll be helping my mechanic with it to keep labour costs down while learnng at the sametime...Same goes for the suspension too.
The reason I went pedders because my mate has xa coilovers and raves about them saiding they are very good product.

Plus australian made. The bushes are not pedders.
You might of misunderstood I did put in new shocks when the king springs when in catering for lower suspension but I was
still not happy with the ride comfort. I went pedders lol...

I'll wanted the same ride height as the superlows and can adjust lower when circuit racing is required...
I know there are other brands out there so will soon find out if they are worth it or not... I'll give you a good review
run down when all suspension is installed.

Not long to wait I'll post up pictures aswell...
