VE SV6 MY12.5 Rough Idle lumpy..

Ended up putting new mounts on. Straight away the vibration/rough idle went away. A week later and it’s back again, took it back to the mechanics that did it they did a few engine mount tests and said the mounts are fine. Took it to another mechanic to be sure they also said the mounts are fine. Not sure what to do about it now as yesterday there was no rough idle when driving. It only starts having the rough idle when engine reaches normal temp. Weird how yesterday it was running smooth again. The second mechanic I took it to suggested I get an intake/valve clean said it’s pretty much like an oven cleaner will cost $120 and take about 45mins he said it will clean all the carb build up inside the engine. Is it worth $120 tho? Isn’t it the same as buying a liqimoli carb cleaner you shove up the intake? Any ideas would be great thanks mate

Sometimes it runs rougher then other times, sometimes the car sort of starts shaking when slowing down to about 6kpm then when I come to a complete stop starts idleing really rough.

Only the SIDIs carbon up the intake valves so i wouldn't bother yours should be fine.

How many kms has it done?

Could be a cat coming apart and blocking up the exhaust

My S2 SV6 does the same thing and has a slight miss, feels like the idle is just that fraction too low.
My S1 VE SV6 does the same. It's like it's at too low RPM at idle.

mine has lumpy idle ..but ..when using E10 its a lot less ..work that one out..!

I'm in Perth unfortunately.

It's common to have a failed engine mount at those kms, had them checked? This will cause vibration.
Hey mate,

Have very similar issues as the OP.
Although it's not so much a vibration but more of a wobble.

I've just bought a 2011 VE S2 SV6 with 88,000 kms from a dealer. They had acknowledged it was misfiring on 2 cylinders and so far they have done the following (supposedly) under warranty:
-Spark plugs
-coil pack
-injectors
-cleaned carbon build up on valves and valve seat.

Have you got any ideas and/or are you a mechanic in Perth that would be able to look at it?
