I need a new radiator and am intrested if there is any benefit in changing a VN series 1 cooling system with the pressurised over flow to the series 2 system with the cap on top of the radiator and un pressureised over flow. It has a series 2 motor with series 1 cooling system at the moment.

VP SS, Cammed VN V6 daily
only benefit i think would be that, it will be easier for you too replace the pressure cap in the long run. Not as easy to buy the reservoir pressure cap these days.

Dont do it. It ****ed my car. I had a VR rad in (Basically VN II) and it blew the pressure cap clean off the water tank and kept over heating.

Would having little cracks in your pressurised over flow make the engine heat up more then usual but not over heat and **** it

Radiator specialists have been putting normal capped Radiators in S-1 cars since 1990,my first VN S-1 had a new Radiator and overflow tank fitted after the side tanks started leaking in 1991.The surge Tank and pressure cap is thrown away and a normal overflow tank, like on a VP, fitted, never a problem.
