VS ute won't fire

I've got a vs ute and it won't fire up. It winds over but just won't fire, it definitely sounds like it wants to.
Any one else had something similar or anyone have an idea of what it may be?

is the little red light on the console flashing when the key is in and ignition is turned on?
Might be DFI, could be a number of things need more info, any issues leading up to it, what have you changed or done so far?

V6 or V8
found it in a paddock yesterday?
or owned it for 5 years, drove it to the shops and when you came out it would not start?
remote has never worked and only one key?
