That really can’t be done. This sort of stuff is found out after a tear down. Then you post the findings and a bit more knowledge is gained, keeping our Commodores ticking along.

but that metallic sound will not be in the pan, except for glitter
and most likely not something monitored by a sensor
so how will you diagnose it

Without x-Ray vision, your dealing in the dark arts of guessing.

That thing has major issues and the way to fix that is to disassemble the gearbox and assess it as they go.

If you want it to be the torque converter only, and want that to be the issue so the gear box doesn’t have to be dismantled, you’re going to have a not fun time.
