Thanks Martin for the reply. As you have indicated only time will tell as I suspected that I not many MRC equipped vehicles will have been tested on dirt. Later this year I will be able to report. I will be interesting to compare the MSE with the FE1 equipped Calais. The driveway is only 500m long and at this stage being graded is not warranted. Currently the public road along the property was an undulating sealed C grade track (road) which the FE1 Calais handled beautifully but this road is currently being upgraded while will be a good quality road when finished will be dirt leading into the new year.

    Hi Zappa,
I'm with Martin, mate. I reckon the selectable suspension settings on the Holden tuned MRC, will give you, and all SE owners, the flexibility of getting the best of the awesome Zeta chassis, in a wide range of road (and occasional track) conditions.

I shudder at the thought of an MSE being driven on a dirt road.

Hi Zappaboy, no probs, in relation to testing on dirt I think you'd be amazed as to the extent of testing Holdens carries out in all conditions and road types, not just in Australia, and then there is jig testing on top of that. The MRC will be thorourghly tested on dirt as it is a road car first, built for Australian conditions, with the option of tracking it if thats your thing. I have made some comments regarding MRC sensor ball joint wear previuosly but have been advised it hasn't presented as an issue to date.

Hey zero, "I shudder at the thought of an MSE being driven on a dirt road", does that mean you jerk around violently at the thought of an MSE being involved in a crash??:) Just another poor attempt at humour.

Lol, nah I just couldn't bear the thought of driving such a car down a dirt road as though it was a $50 paddock bomb. I would cringe at the potholes and corrugations vibrating the car apart, at the sound of rocks hitting the paintwork, and the dust infiltrating the interior.
I wouldn't even drive my Redline in the rain, but thats just me.

    Hey guys,

I've asked holden if those of us prospective limited edition owners are able to factory option red brembo calipers. Unfortunately they suggest negotiating a swap with your dealer.

Not sure why the Redline comes with red brembos and the LE's are grey.

Hi Blue Calais, I think everyone would prefer the red callipers on the LE's but what can you do? Order Nitrate like I've done and they're colour coded :) still prefer the red. The production line isn't set up to change anything out of the norm, I expect its to do with stock control and synchronising components to cars, plus the introduction of possible errors. I asked whether the hood stripes could be left off my car, they couldn't even do that, or not do that more to the point. So basically you get what they dish up (which I'm not complaining about) and then you can change it to how you want through the dealership or, dare I say, aftermarket.

Well zero you can sleep well at night knowing all those things are what your car has been designed to be able to take in its stride, regardless of whether its exposed to them or not. Though the potholes and 30 series tyres are a concern, imagine trying to match one of those back rims with the red band and Holden cast into them.

Good point Martin, everyone is going to have to be super careful not to jam these rims on kerbs and the like, I sense an extra degree of paranoia setting in haha

    Thanks Coach!
That bottom pic is the look I'm after. The red in the stripes picks up the red on the rims. This with a power decal on the bonnet. SubLime (that's what I'd call it).;)
In fact I like it so much, I'm going to buy a set of those red decals. Price pending of course.

Hi Martin, you are correct in pointing out the testing Holden do on their cars. As the MSE has roots to the Chevy SS especially the MRC it would have been tested in the US as well as extensively at Lang Lang and HSV has used MRC for around 10 years. My preference would be to not drive the MSE on the dirt but as the end point is my second home, the choice is not drive the car and enjoy it or leave it in the garage. I do not have luxury of putting the MSE away for storage for 20 years so I can only enjoy and drive the car as carefully as possible especially on those adverse conditions. The comments about the red lining on the black rims is also a worry.
