Width of Bucket seats

I am trying to install a 12 inch sub between the bucket seats of a VG commodore ute. and need about 2 inches more room to do it. are some brands or models of bucket seats skinnier than the originals. I would like to try to stick with commodore seats as i have been told that any other type will require an enginers certificate.

why dont u just get a 10" sub, so it fits in all nice?
