Default 1/4 mile with the A6 gearbox

I was thinking about taking my car down the 1/4 mile in the near future, just wanted to get some tips on the best way to go about it.

Do I keep in D or use the sequential shift? or is it just trial and error?
Anything else I would need to do/consider?

You realise if the auto is half decent it will be quicker anyway

    Auto ftw.
    Trial and error.
I had my rpm limit raised, so if i leave it in 'D', it will shift at the original rpm limit...
