    Question vn 355 stroker

    hey i wont to put a 355 stroker engine into my 89 vn commodore but hav no idea were to start and were to get it and wat to do first should i get a full built one nd get it recondishend or build it from scratch. not sure wat mounts will b needed for it id also like to convert my auto into a 5 speed when i do it all wat gear box will i need? a breif explanation on wat is involved and a list of things ill need 2 buy 2 make it all work also a rough price on it all would b much appreciated im very keen 2 get this done id like 2 hav it done or almost done wen i get off my p plates witch is in 2 and a half years

    ur better off getting a donor car for starters prices afre as follows approx
    1. donor car vn 5.0 $500-$1000
    2.if not already source a t5 $1000
    3.stroker kits arent cheaqp $2000- $5000
    ur gunna need to get the motor rebuilt gunna be looking at $4000
    4. if the v8 is currently auto ur gunna need some shit for it to be manual allow $500
    5. if u dont have the room for another donor car ur better off just buying a decent vn 5.0 for like $3000 - $4000
    6. my mate just did this but his is not stroked and it still cost him like $6000 to build his motor
    u can get decent power form the vn v6 maybe turbo steup it would be much cheaper

    Thanks man wen i get it rebuilt do they bore out the bores 2 a diff size? Or is it just the same but with a stroker kit? I dont no much bout stroker kits nd stuff lol so i should start by getting a 5.0L

    your engine bloke will bore the block to suit pistons in the stroker kit...i got a C.O.M.E racing kit for $2300, rebuild cost me $4000 and i put it in my vs ute, more spent then on upgrading exhaust, memcal etc. It's an expensive exercise but well worth it...

    so bacically i just need to buy a stroker kit to start with plus engine wat else do i need sorry to b a pain with wonting all the info but really wona get it done nd no wat i need to buy nd whats involved

    also i havnet got the v8 engine as yet would it b beter buyin the hole car or just the engine im looking 4 the cheaper way plus if i hav the car aswell with no engine ill hav no real easy way 2 move it around nd stuff but if its gona b cheaper that way then ill work out a way 2 hav the car sittin around aswell

    As your in Melbourne, I suggest you have a chat with Mike at the 308 shop 97939113 or lou at Dandy Engines 97750911 and get a couple of quotes on paper then weigh up your options.
    You may find it easier and cheaper to build an older engine and swap heads & cam to EFI.
    You may prefer to fit an aftermarket computer and loom like a Wolf etc.
    There are lots of options and it pays to have a plan and a budget.
