vs 5ltr fuel prob

when my fuel gets to about quarter of a tank and i acelerate it starts to choke and almost like its going to cut out and i can hear popping sounds coming from either the catty or the engine?? iv changed the fuel pump and nothing has improved any suggestions would be helpful!! should i just give it a run on the dyno to diagnose the problem...
