    Default any help grateful

hey guys, just recently bought a v6 3.8 ltr 99 vt wagon, wasnt accelerating to its full potential, so had service, but still d same.
i dont know what modifications if any have been done to the car.
where can i bring it to get it running right and where they would know what has been done to it.
does it need a tune? its all tuned via the ecu isnt it? i dont even know where that is, or if its been changed.
any help would be great thanks

the ecu is located in the passenger footwell im pretty sure. behind a special cover.
well if any mods have been done to it id say thered be pretty standard ones.
headers, exhaust, OTRCAI, k&n air filter, if those things are all stock then id say theres be no mods done to it. but you never know, they could of changed cam or got a stroker kit.

ahh take it to an auto elc get the ecu scanned for any fault codes they can also check the timing im pretty sure if there is no problems thenyeh you might need a tune or as gen reaper said a faulty oxy sensor could be spark plugs, faulty fuel pump, blocked fuel filter, faulty leads or coil packs and the list goes on thats the only thing good about fords if there running like shit its a cracked head

thanks for that, but when you say it might need a tune, who does that? and how? done through the ecu or by a mechanic?

you cant tune a standard car, dont even bother looking at the ecu unless the engine light is on. Most likely to be a ****ed fuel pump, vacuum leak from the pcv hose under the throttle body, blocked air filter or blocked exhaust system. Then look at fuel filter, plugs dirty injectors, etc. could also be a faulty air flow meter. If it has a pod filter piss it off and go back to standard air box

Maybe a bit more info, whats it doing, or not doing?

The description is a bit vague, it could be a number of things, take it to your mechanic, see what he says...
Are there any modifications you can tell, that have been done to the car?
Did you buy it from grandpa, or some fully sik young fella?
    Has is boiled/got hot recently?
    Does it misfire?

Try and help us help you..

im just looking to find out who to bring it too, not how to fix it myself. will a normal mechanic do? or some one else, more specialist?

some sort of different exchaust, because its loader. bought from car yard and has been modded with it being lowered. k&n air filter. not boiled recently, not sure bout misfiring.

mate take it to a workshop that does their own dyno tuning.
They'll have all the gear to check and/or tune if required

Most regular workshops will have the gear to check the engine management system for problems, but usually won't have the gear to re-calibrate the memcal. Need the likes of a dyno tune workshop
