ok guys why use a standard computer over after market im looking at getting a haltech e6gmx for a motor i have just built because i have to change it any ways due to im running a vt computer and has a air flow meter and i want to run a map sensor for my single plane ??? im also looking at running nos later on one of the reasons i want to run after market is so i have more of a choice of tuner rather than only the ones who can do delco
thanks Mat
Mate the standard computer will easily do everything you are asking of it. the mafless tune has been done on alot of commodores with factory computer and the nos wont be a problem (as long as the tuner knows wat they are doing). The aftermarket unit will just cost you money and be no real benifit at all in performance. The only gd thing is that more people will think they can tune it better over the factory software, but only because they dont know how to use the kalmaker program.
The VT 5L uses sequential injection
as far as I know, the e6gmx doesn't support sequential injection.
As mentioned above, the factory Delco is more than capable of handling a modified engine. In many ways superior to some of the aftermarket ECM's like Haltec. Just take your car to a tuner who has the gear to re-calibrate Delco memcals (there is plenty around) and you'll be fine.
