hi all just a quick Q
me mate has a vt ss supercharged V6 commodore that has a cracked block
and we are wondering if it is possible to bung in a vy supercharged engine on its own using the vt's trannie, ecu and wiring harness.
oh and if this works there will be a whole vt top end up for sale including supercharger!!
i pretty sure the motor should just slid in as they and the box are the same.
sweet can anyone second this cus it is a big spend if it don't fit
Yep, it's a straight swap. The VT on were the same except for the VY having better con rods apparently. Wiring/ sensors are a direct swap.
The VY has a different sump which incorporates the transmission bell housing but a few mods to the trans inspection plate and Bob's your uncle
BTW how did you diagnose the VT with a cracked block? Never heard of this with an Ecotec before
