Delco is the type of ECU used by your Commodore.

Memcal is the plastic assembly with the blue cover which plugs in to the ECU under the cover with your tune on it.

Under the blue cover on the memcal, the main component is the chip (EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory or EEPROM which is Electronically Erasable) which contains the core program and tune data. There are also a couple of resistor pack chips which do the limp home mode, cylinder select.

Other ECUs use SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) or NVRAM (Non Volatile) which is writable by the ECU itself in place of the EPROM chip, so that it can be altered directly/in real time without requiring a chip programmer. Early Delco ECUs can also be converted to use NVRAM with the right programming to take full advantage of it.

It should be OK, that adapter looks a bit dodgy but at least you can revert back to the original tune if it fails. If its a factory SV3800 tune it should work fine, may require 95 fuel to run best, probably further improvement if you've done any exhaust or intake upgrades.

edit: you're not going to get 10-13kW as advertised though, that's quite optimistic

    I wouldnt go near that.

If you want a tune PM delcowizid and ask him to sort you one out. Will cost a bit more than that auction but your going to get the best possible tune for your commodore.
