what do i need

i have a slightly worked ecotec and want to know do i just need a good tune to have it run at its full potential or do i go all out buy a aftermarket ecu get a custom tune and run it that way please i really need help on this i have no idea about the tuning side of things on cars.
any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The stock ecu is about as good as they come. It can be tuned on Delco (OEM) or Kalmaker software. You will pay a tuner around the same kinda money regardless of which software is used but the stock ecu remains either way
