Hi, recently i upgraded the throttle body on my VT V6 to a 70mm and it has thrown my shifts out, i have a few other minor mods exhaust, high-flow filter etc..
I would like to get a performance tune done just wondering if anyone could recommend me a good tuner to get a plug and play memcal tune done.
cheers
i got one from ebay, it was called a stage 4 performance memcal or something similar and was like $86 or something. it had noticable improvement especially with the transmission. was worth the money. cant say ive experienced a full custom tune tho.
A custom tune will set you back about $1500 so just to get it done for the shift points ois expensive. Youll get the best results from a custom tune but it cost a fair bit.If you going down this path I would recomend you do some more mods to make it wirth your while paying so much. Also make sure you do some homework on the tuner before you leave your car with them cause you can get caught out badly with a bad tuner
Plug and play memcals vary in cost from $100 though to $1500, check out on the forum here who the best people are to talk to, the likes of Greenfoam (contactable only on ebay), DrBob and Delcowizzard are probably your best bet :-)

for those mods just get a greenfoam or delcowizzid or Dr bob, add a bit more timing advance, change the shift points a bit, run with 98ron fuel.
How hard is it to change the chip on the VT's as I am looking at getting one for mine.
Chris
Hi I have been looking on ebay for a chip for my VT but can only find ones for sale from a seller called TRX 100 has anyone heard of or bought from him? Also does anyone know if you can get the ecu on a Jackaroo re programmed or chipped.
Thanks Chris
VT chip is removable and is a straight swap over, im not sure what ecu the jackaroo runs. Delcowizzid or Dr bob can do a good tune for VT.
How do I find Delcowizzid or Dr bob I have looked on ebay but cant find either of them.
Chris
there on the forums here, just send them a pm, dr bob site is memcals.com
I emailed Dr Bob and got a quote from him he wants $260 for a changeover memcal or I can get one from the site sponsors Mace engineering for $150 non changeover. Which do you think will give the best result?
Chris
i dont know what maces are like, dr bob will be more of a custom tune to suit.
The DrBob tune will be a little more customized to your mods. It's my understanding that the MACE memcal's are a little more generic, and in some instances offered no gain what so ever.
The chip on the VT is a piece off piss to change, pull out the box from behind the passenger side footwell trim, undo the torx screws on the metal flap, pull the blue chip out and put the new one back in. Some recommend disconnectiong the battery while doing this.

Yeh I figured Dr Bobs would probably be a bit more of a custom sort of tune compared to the Mace Chip. Any idea where I would get a spare memcal from as I would like to keep my original chip if at all possible.
chris
keep an eye out on ebay, some go cheap less than $30 you can use both vsv6 or vtv6 memcals, both are same.
Financial pressures have obviously gotten to doctor bob, he just quoted me $280 for a chip!? I couldn't find any info on what effect it will actually have, I'm wondering if it's worth it
280 is cheap for doctorbob
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
can't be done for nothin all takes time, if you want it cheap and a good return get yourself setup that way you can tune it yourself![]()
