I have a brand new SS-V Redline and have put a VCM/KPM OTR on, but now the car doesn't seem as responsive as it was. It seems to be searching for a gear(auto) and taking a big gulp of air before it does anything and then launches. My first question is, does the computer need time to learn or will It need a tune, secondly having only done 300km is it too early to put it on a Dyno?
Another thing I noticed with the VCM OTR, I decided to pull it off and go back to stock and the bottom of the OTR was hot as and you could feel the heat inside it. So is over the radiator really that good an idea? I mean if it was insulated it would be fine, but it obviously isn't. Does the heat have not much effect(it must have some) once the car is moving and the air is flowing?
Never had any problems with heat in my vcm otr, esp when ur moving as the air is getting rammed in their, that gulp of air thing then launches sounds like the fly by wire on the throttle, they can reduce the "lag" as such with a good tune, i however would wait til you get more kms on it before putting it on the dyno, also in the tune they should be able to tune ur gearbox too
I noticed a good difference when going from stock intake to the otr
I wouldn't do anything until your over the 1000k mark
How exactly have you checked the heat situation on your VCM? Are you going by air/fuel temp or something? Because what I am saying is that I pulled the OTR off and could feel how hot it was on the inside, so I assume this has to have an effect. I'm not saying that it makes a huge difference but some insulation would be much better as the whole idea is to get cold air, i thought(and lots of it).
One thing I have noticed since putting the OTR on is that AFM will kick in doing 40km/h where as it never kicked in until 60km/h before, so it obviously likes the extra air.
As for putting on the K's I guess I will have to go for a drive somewhere to get it to 1000km's, I only drive the car once a month when home on R&R as I work in WA but I do Fly in Fly out from Sydney, so the car is at home in the garage for 4 weeks in every 5.
Ok , cool, I will most likely get a tune from Oz-Track also, and maybe the remote tune may be the way to go for now, without having to put it under load on the Dyno.
Let it pass the first full checkup. what's that 2 months 2000km which ever is first ?. find any faults loose bolts screws problems etc.
