Default Mail Order Tunes For LS1 Gen 111

Hi guys as anyone heard of a mail order tune company or person called VENGEANCE PERFORMANCE TUNING for the LS1 motor. They are advertising on eBay offering a performance tune customized to your car's mods and auto shift mods as well. They seem to know a lot about the tuning and quote lots of past experience. They have a tune for every scenario.
I have Goggled them but come up with no info, as any body heard of them and are they any good.
    Cheers Col

i think there is remote tuning solutions out now, dongles that plug in and do logging, via your computer it then sends the logs to tuner. I think the dongle then gets an update from the tuner to update your pcm. Perhaps check with mace or someone like that.

Other than that your prob up for hptuners package and diy or goto a dyno tuner and get them to tune it.

Well people I would like to up date my last post about the company VENGEANCE PERFORMANCE TUNING, after in depth communication with the owner and operator, my mind was set at easy about the way the tunes are developed from years of data collected from dyno runs, track days & road tests to give you the best tune to deliver power throughout the rev range. So I went ahead and had my Calais tuned, with a fully customized tune to suit my cars mods and what a difference its made!!! I have more power, harder acceleration when you nail it & the car is more willing down lower on the rev range making it more responsive and pleasurable to drive. Very happy with the tune and I would recommend this to everybody its not the last tune they will be doing for me.

I dont see how you can call a mail order tune "custom"

The tune was based on a car with the same mods as mine, not like the old memcal tunes that were straight across the board for that engine type & year model. So if you have a car that as already had extensive work done these guys can match a tune to your mods. OR a full custom tune can then be done via data logging if you want to go all the way.
But bang for bucks this guy has pre mapped tunes for most mod combinations. The PCM still learns and can protect its self, so there is no worry about damaging your motor. That's what I was worried BUT if you want full control for pro drag you can have that removed too. Caution you would want to know your stuff before going there.
For a full custom tune on a dyno people are paying $800 upwards this tune cost me less than $200!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check it out at eBay under, (300Kw tunes for LS1) drop him a line top bloke.

The only proper way to tune a car is to do it yourself. When you go to a dyno tuner, and you put your car on the dyno, he's just copying in a tune he's already written and spent time on. And then from there he just fixes up the points for the individual motor where it might need more/less fuel.

Sure, a mail order tune will give you the exact same result as going down to Mikes Dynos and getting the car strapped down and his custom "Full Sick Uleh" tune loaded in, but it will not be individually suited to the car.

To fully...fully tune a car you need to have tuning software on it 365 days a year and tune the car to its best for every condition. Something that a mailorder tune, or even a dyno tune cant do.

EFILive, HPTuners etc are smart pieces of software, that will slew their fuel maps as needed. So they fill gaps in "custom" tunes.

And to add the engine is NOT protected from a bad tune, pinging can and will kill an engine from too much ignition timing etc. All engines are different no two motors are the same.

I had a mail order tune, the car was pinging under WOT and I took it to the tuner who luckily was local and he fixed it for me free of charge.

You paid a little amount because you got a cheap tune. You always get what you pay for.

Yep I agree I should choose my words better, a custom tune is as you say a consistent working system that can be changed at any time to suit your needs at that time like a MOTECH. But these tunes are better than the Holden standard crap the car comes with and more customized than a memcal up grade. My car went good before not its great & I am hoping to pick up on a bit of fuel economy. I will post when I have done a trip.

I know there is some pretty ordinary tunes out there, that's why I did my checks and I happy with the tune and the tuners knowledge and proven experience. If you are looking for a tune look this guy up and talk to him. He can fill you on all the details.

A properly tuned stock ECU is miles better than a MOTEC system. And while i agree that re-tuning the stock system has its benefits, slamming a GENERIC tune in your car which costs 1/4 the price of other tunes, logic would state that you're getting 1/4 of the benefit.

Why does this thread reak of advertising scam?

Mail order tunes are a bandaid solution and a big risk at times. The only way to properly tune a car is in real time on a dyno and preferably on a road also
Cheap, fast, reliable.....you only get to choose two.

Grb" I agree with what your saying about dyno and road to get a better tune. Sorry about the over enthusiasm just happy with the tune and wanted to share that. No advertising here just giving good feed back for a good job!

Get your car tuned properly. Then you'll REALLY be happy.
