perfomance memcal??????

please help
I purchased a performance memcal off ebay from blackstar? this is the 185kw
type to suit a vs v8 manual.after fitting it today and taking it for a drive, i
didnt notice much- or any differance in performance i am now thinking this car
may have had mod memcal in it already or the memcal i recieved is stock?
information as follows from original memcal DELCO BWFW 0312 (1997 model)
can any one tell me if this is a standard memcal or not? (blackstar no knock
sensor type 185kw)

no way to tell because it may have been reprogrammed, no surprise u didnt notice anything because by the sounds its just a stock hsv memcal

you will notice a big diffrence in power and it will be way better on long distance trips in the fuel department

As far as I've heard (heard), the 185i's had a slightly better cam and a few other small engine tweaks. I don't know what they are, but the difference is in and the tune is designed for those differences.

your old memcal is the stock 96 vs v8 manual memcal if it had been modified it wouldnt have the sticker on it they dont stick back on very well.i thought the 185kw tune was auto only but i might be mistaken thats the thing with ebay tunes you dont know what you get send it to greenfoam for a tune get him to read it and see what it is before he reprograms it too .cost 50 bucks for a tune i think.

yes there is indeed a 185kw memcal for manual as well so i just found out after some further research.my bad.

Lol!!! Sorry mate, if he bought a tune off Egay, it's most likely he has been ripped off. Most of the twits on Egay just throw on a circut from Dick Smith, the car runs richer, and they think because more fuel is being pumped into the engine, it will run faster. Not the case, Blackstar has been known for his dodgy tunes.

Everyone should know by now, if you don't know any of the tuners on Egay personally and know WHAT and HOW they are "tuning" their memcals, buy off Foamy via Egay.

Yup, moreso the Clubby's were manual and auto, the Senator is more of a luxury car of it's era and are mostly auto. Whereas the Clubby's were more of a "performance" car of their era and had the choice of auto or manual.

Even though they are pretty much exactly the same, with the Senator maybe carrying a few more extra KG's.

iam after a memcal like you and i came across this one called powerchip, makes a pretty big increase but for $490 its abit much i think.

paid $160,what a waste of money,car smells of strong unleaded fumes when ideling
must of programed it for more fuel,no increase in performance will put standard memcal back in,should of went with greenfoam,may be next time.

hmm ive driven a vr clubby(stock) my manual statesman and 1 auto vr senator (with minor mods) and a stock auto vs senator...the clubby smoked all of them with a f'd auto, are they slightly tuned differently because the clubby is meant to be more sporty than the senator. or was it just a freak, coz the clubby was the only one that could hang O's

out the front of my joint with brand new 235 tyres....and my stato barely does it on 15s
