Definitely a pisser after all the work tho.

I would love to be able to fab some headers for mine but restricted to stock. Everything i have seen angles down straight out of the head which i reckon is a big mistake for flow - go look at the angle of your exhaust ports in relation to the gasket face- i'm not preaching mate but you might get an idea that helps flow if it can clear the shock towers etc.

+1 on the headers, I am designing a set at the moment, and they will carry on up straight out of the ports, then gently turn forwards to where they will collect and hang the turbo right there at around about the end of the cylinder head.

Yeah not bad, you'd probably have good access to the sparkplugs too. I reckcon the last cylinder should come under the first two, to make it shorter - so more the same length as the other two. And flange position depends how the turbo would be mounted..

    Default New motor

Well the change over is under way, removed old VT block with sloppy pistons.
Here I have installed dual row timing set, solid lifters and new solid profile cam in new block.
Balance shaft gone! - hope it's going to be okay.. ??

Off to modify the sump, oil filter housing, get fly wheel match balanced and pickup few bits'n pieces this morning.
Heads should be ready to collect from the Reconditioners after lunch

Still bit dirty here, since cleaned up a bit - Honest!

    Default Yay new engine

Later model L36 N/A (9.4:1 CR) short block - low kms.
Reco'd heads (by Glendene engine reconditioners) with Ferrea Stainless steel LS1 valves - inlet turned down from 2.02" to 1.835", redrilled for 7/16" rocker bolts,
Dual valve springs 200lbs seat/450lbs rate (later found to be too stiff, probably Crow cams #130 or #150 would have done fine), reduced valve stem height, mild porting.
    Franklin cams Solid profile (.530" lift, 230/240 @ .050", LSA 112)
Dual row timing set, "Oil volume kit", Heavy duty chromemoly pushrods, ARP head studs, Yella terra Platinum 1.6 ratio rolller rockers,
Comp cams 8956 solid lifters with modified oil feed hole, Powerbond "Race" Harmonic balancer, Custom Oil pickup and relocated oil feed to pump,
blanked off oil feed to deleted balance shaft, Alloy rocker covers, Ceramic clutch, match balanced (Series II to Ecotec) fly wheel ($150 Bob @ Balancing specialties, New lynn).

*Exhaust manifolds had to be notched to clear the nuts on new ARP head studs.

Extra fan(s) & Oil cooler let to be fitted.

Almost going.. just took timeout for dinner and to post this..

Check this out, the gasket on the filter housing is from Intense - "Oil volume kit" the blue gasket to the right is from an ACL Holden gasket set.
See the difference where the Allen key is pointing to the straight part of the blue gasket.. the Intense version is curved inwards
This caused an oil leak on my engine.

No, it's a great NA combo . It'll be even better on boost even tho I can't see the point in reving that much on boost. But if you want to build a good NA V6 without all the silly parts you don't need I think this engine is _perfect_

    Default She goes!

Drove the car to work today, I'm working on the tune as it's quite different in the low rpm low manifold pressure area. She's quite lumpy at idle
Done some data logging on the way to work, so will have a play and reload before heading home. - Will take a Vid and try to load that later on.
Off to Sydney tomorrow to see Coldchisel and the V8's, so will get back into it next week.

Tuning in progress... 12psi at around 3500rpm, 500rpm better than what I had with smaller cam and tired engine

Anyone got a stand alone laptop tunable ecu for sale?

Yes, Stock VR Auto PCM and MAPECU2 Piggyback.. I have a LM-1 and borrowed a Laptop and a EFILIVE scan tool, so I have some idea what timing the Delco is outputting.. bit of guess work really.

so you are still running the 100kpa timing on boost then or is the piggy back able to pull timing out too .i have a realtime tuneable vr auto ecu but its not for sale but you can buy all the parts easy as to make yours fully tunable for pretty cheap
