That pisses me off cos I paid $850 without springs direct from YT. Kind of a large price difference
145rwkw bolt-on standard ECOTEC
farrrrr out mate, how long ago was this?
i paid ~$750 shipped to perth for just the rockers august last year
any real gain with these rockers? like, without any other mods?
I run mace 1.98's in a vt2. Very noticeable improvement, that gets better as you add other improvements.
It's certainly more effective in the upper rev range, from about 3200 to 5200 it screams its lungs out, then shifts hard (kitted 'box). Had an issue with valve bounce so the springs are a good idea.
Like everything else, the more you do, the better they get.
tsynamix what do you mean by valve bounce?
i have vt1 that i just installed 1.98:1 in couple nights ago. mines the same, no real difference till about 3000rpm
I got a custom ecu chip from Foamy. Lifted the rev limiter a few hundred rpm, to take advantage of some changes made to induction and the gearbox's speedof shifts.
What was happening is that at the very peak of rpm - close on 5600, the valves were bouncing. the sprongs pull them shut, but don't have the 'force' required to hold them shut so they wore bouncing open again.
It was probably only happening in one cylinder, as it's effect was not really noticeable apart from a changed noise, but I didn't like it, so I had the shift point moved down 200 rpm.
The proper fix is to use stronger valve springs, but i won't do that without totally redoing the heads.
