    Cool Air intake tube thingie....

got bored today......saw a hacksaw and file sitting on my wooden workbench.( amongst all the other sh&t..).........can see pile of VN parts lying on the floor...Air Intake tube sitting there gathering cobwebs.......so I chopped it up a bit...filed all the fluffy bits off....and sawed/filed the ridges back for an inch or so.....and then got the extra boot onto it...2 45 degree angles has gotta be better than 1 90 degree elbow.......

true, but the rubber bellows and ridges in the plastic wont help flow at all...you would be better off going the steel intake tube which has a smooth bore and would create less turbulence...

    Cool

totally agree..... next step is to get some of that silver flexible tube stuff..... put that inside it, and seal at each end.....gets rid of all the ridges etc...(I'm broke, and wanna improve things best I can , as cheap as I can..)........

i think he means to put the silver pipe on the inside? to get rid of the internal ridges etc.....but honestly, go the tube....looks mickey mouse and solves the flow issue...you can get them for under 100 bucks now i think...

Man, **** that plastic crap right off. If you're going to bother replacing your intake pipe, you should get one of those stainless pipes. Anyway, turbulent air is a good thing, it helps to mix the fuel in better - diesel engines even have an air turbulator (heh) built in to either the valve or the piston? to increase turbulence.

Honestly, think about. Where does the fuel and air mix ? At the throttle body.

Turbulate air before the throttle body won't make much of a difference in the air intake.

Elimanate the bends in the air intake will.

.......no..I have made one 90 deg bend into 2 45 deg bends...and moved the tube further from the heads......and by putting that tubing stuff inside the black air tube, it will make for better air flow from the filter box to the throttle body.past the corrugated elbows...........I am sure there will be more than enough turbulence in there to make it happy....and by keeping the original black tubing, it wont get crushed or be notice-able or anything..... also..the metal tubes are great, if I had one.....or the $$ for one.... but I don't......I was at Spacs last week...he toook all his air con out....the compressor was fugged anyways.....and he is putting his pod filter about 14 inches straight out from the throttle body, where the AC res was........no bends!!!!lool.....

LMAO, that thing is gona be noisy. i did that to my vn on day for shits and giggles and yeah.... it was loud. but i had the pod strapped right onto the throtle body

but there isnt any real point to it cause all your doing is sucking all the nice hot air into the intake.

I bought one of those Stainless tubes off eBay, biggest pain in the a$$ ever, for a start it was too long so had to hacksaw it down 2 inches and could not figure out anyway to fit it without using the ridged joiner tube thingies anyway plus no nut would fit the brace part properly so when I forced it a little the bastard snapped off it was an aluminium bolt?!?!!!
After 1.5hrs finally got it in but will have to fine tune the tube so it fits tight against the existing attachments
I think the rat had the better idea lol
