    Default Eaton M90 Gen5

Hey guys. If you don't know me yet I'm a new Canadian member here. I know that you guys never got the Series III 3.8 V6 over there, and with that, never got the bigger badder 5th generation M90s. They're a bolt on for any 3800 running a gen3 m90 over here, I'm not sure how easy they'd go onto your cars but I imagine it would be little to no trouble. After coming across an intercooled m90 gen 5 for $4.9 grand on ebay australia it has come to my attention that these things must be worth their weight in gold to you guys!!

Now I'm not trying to score a a quick buck, but I'm sure someone out there is DYING to get a blower like this so I am willing to source them here and Canada and ship them over if enough people get in on this. They're quite easy to come by here, even with low miles or rebuilt. Stock intake and i/c, but they're an easy 20-25 hp improvement over the Gen3s.

Our cars that have Gen3s stock have 240hp(178kW) and the 2004 with Gen5s have 260hp(193kW). Gen5s are a bit bigger and have WAAAAY more potential for high boost. Intercooled 20psi is easily attained.

Price wise.. used in great condition they go for about $300-$400 CAD ($400 CAD=about $426) so that with a bit extra for sourcing it, and shipping, and it's yours.

So.. any takers? I'd love to help out some fellow petrolheads.

Our engines face the wrong way to fit either a U.S spec Gen3 or 5 M90. We run North south rwd here.

Whipple or a GT35/40 is the next step when upgrading from a Gen3 M90 here is Aus

really? I didn't know there was a difference between the US spec and AUS spec m90s.. what's so different about them? I've seen Gen5s for Holdens before, so they can't be TOO hard.

isn't it just the backside of the blower that's different? That's an easy fix.
I can't tell from pics, you'll have to excuse my ignorance.

Yep the rear intak of the aussie spec is a 70 odd degree bend whereas the U.S spec is a straight shot. Not viable to interchange them as we just don't have the clearance.

It is doable if you actually cut the rear of the Gen5 off and re weld it at an angle but how much do you think the housing will warp when you weld it?

That's why even though the Gen5 has slightly higher flow capability due to its 80mm or so intake and improved design outlet, most go for a larger twin screw Whipple charger or turbos

Ah. I bit more research shows me exactly what you mean. From what I have seen though it doesn't seem like it's too much of an issue, though. You might have a bit of tough TB access from under the bonnet, but looking at the countless amounts of 3.8 rwd setups I'm seeing, it's nothing a 180 degree bend can't fix.

    Again, please excuse my ignorance.
