As title states.
I have some 1 5/8 primary - 2 1/2 secondary stainless extractors and a HSV twin 2 1/4 inch exhaust.
Should I upgrade to metal cats? And if so, what size? If I go 2 1/2 inch how would it fit the exhaust side since it's only 2 1/4 inch.
I've had so many differing opinions. Should all fit with standards cats, no since the extractor is 2 1/2 inch secondary pipes you'll need to upgrade to twin 2 1/2 inch metal cats, no you should upgrade to metal cats, but you don't have to.
So confused. Any help would be nice. Lol. Thanks guys.
Depends what you're doing with it.
Ceramic cats will be fine if its a daily, but if you're going forced induction or more engine work (then the rest of the exhaust should be changed anyway), then I'd recommend a good metal substrate cat.
A 2.5" cat will flange straight onto your extractors and an adapter can be put on the back side to take it to 2.25". Pretty straight forward.
Good luck
Yeah I have pretty much every bolt on part for my Supercharged V6.
But I wont be going cooled or cammed. Most I'll be running is 10psi and 12psi when I get a tune done.
Looks like twin 2 1/2 inch metal cats it is then.
Thanks for the reply mate.
Sorry mate, didn't see that you had a blown six in your details.
Long live the Eaton blowers, aye![]()
just gutt the cat's you have, or throw them away. They're pretty shit.

Can't do that here in Australia.
I can do a set of Metal hi flow cats that are flanged on the front and bolt straight to the rest of the exhaust system. They are HSV cats so they have the 4 bolt HSV flange on the front of them. I can supply these flanges as well. You will need to cut your pipes and weld these flanges in so the cats bolt in. I am unsure whether you will lose or keep the existing flanges on the back of the extractors as it depends on their length and what brand they are (or even if they have flanges).
