hey guys
i have a question about the factory oil pumps on the buick v6,
what are there limits on a built motor, has any one ever had one fail on them?.
the factory oil pump isn't half bad. there are a few little bit's that can get cleaned up. the biggest thing is to fit a ecotec oil pressure spring top get some decent oil pressure so they survive at higher revs.
the V6's run very small clearances and like plenty of oil pressure to suit the style of the bearings

cool, is there any thing in particular you have to mod to get the ecotec spring in the pump, what else can be modified?
ecotec spring is a straight fit. if you pull the pump apart have a look at the ports where the oil comes in and goes out, remove any burs etc.
also take a die grinder to the filter adaptor and open the passage up into the filter.
