hey guys.
my 95 vr has been making a sound for a while now and its getting louder.
its a ticking noise that increases with revs. its not there at idle and ive noticed as the car gets hotter it gets louder. its not my injectors or and manifold leaks. could it be my cat?
cheers guys
where does it sound like its coming from??? engine bay or under car??

had this problem on my VY, try your exhaust manifold. mine had a really small crack in it and as the pressure from the exhaust went up it would open up, although i geuss if you've checked it well then i wouldnt have to much of any idea what it could be other than maybe a pulley?
I'd be more inclined to think it's your lifters and not an exhaust leak. You could try running a bottle of lifter free and see if that alleviates the ticking noise.
Quagmire: My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.
what grade oil do you use and when was the last time it was changed? i'd try some lifter free as well and maybe consider going to a heavier grade oil

Bottom end bearing. Mine done the same thing.
Start looking for another motor.
lifter noise, these engines are known for it. check the oil levels, lifter free will help.
my vy was doing that when i first got it, the person who owned it before me put some cheep oil in it and it claged up (that was a messy fix), i would be inclind to say before spending big money put the best oil you can into it after you flush it and change the filter, see if that does anything..

Of course, Anyone can diagnose a problem without looking at or even listening to the engine. Just because you spun a bearing doesn't mean his has, I know the sound of a spun bearing but does he?
If you've spun a bearing the car will be very hard to start and almost impossible when cold, it will also not last more than a few k's this way before a piston exits the block.
My monies on lifters.
Can you record a video?
