    Default Port and polishing?

    Hi
I have a spare set of heads at home in good condition I was thinking of getting ported and polished so I can put then on when I do my cam and few outher mods.
First of all how much will it cost to do?
Secondly I was thinking of getting 2 ports done then trying the rest myself matching it to the ones the pro did then taking
It back to the head place and getting them to tidy it up?
Also what kind of kw gains would I be looking at?
    Thanks Craig

While a home port job can net some gains, you can quite easily stuff it up too. i.e. increasing port sizes excessively etc.

I did my own porting and polishing on the engine i built. But only after lots of research, picking knowledge fr those in the biz and practising.

I did a complete port matching job from plenum to combustion chambers with a funnel effect where each intake component bolts up (people who know a bit about porting will understand). Only the exhaust ports were mirror finished. All up i spent about 8hr per head.

I then had the heads rebuilt with k line guides, valve seats cut out and reseated etc... All up to have the heads rebuilt, plus porting bits... i spent about $650ish
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!
