    Question Hidden Ecotec mods..

Going to be my p's car so not going to throw something to hey police look at me under this bonnet! SO! internal work to the v6 to give it a bit of grunt, now money is slow in apprentice wage.. but i would skip on paying someone to do it..

Now, im looking at cam's, lifters', piston's, etc.. anything you cant see unless you pulled it apart...

Would also stroke it if it was to give a decent power increase as its hard to tell just looking at it...

if i was to full rebuild it full internal work + ignition, leads, plugs, intake, Exhaust How much Rwkw am i looking at?

And price of internal im guessing 5-6K?

Not even worth the time and money spent. You would be better off saving your cash for a FI 6 or an 8 when you get off your p's

power to weight ratio is lower on a vt than a vs hence why the vs seems quicker. and least i didnt mention a pod filter

Diff gears!! manifold spacers, higher ratio rockers and a Delco memcal is where I'd spend stealthy tinkering $$ till you're off yer P's

not worth rebuilding unless your going FI which you cant as your on your p's... other than what westerlybreeze suggested seems like your best bet with a catback exhaust and you should feel the difference

mate if you have the money to do some mods and upgrade when you get off your p's then mod away.. dont listen to the people who assume they know your financial situation.

exhaust, roller rockers, cold air intake, memcal would be some basic power mods.. dont go cam cause cops will eventually pick it up. and dont worry about big upgrads of the internals as its not worth it.

post up some pics and info

    cheers

im on my P's soon and i was told a stage one comp cam is mad for mid-range punch and doesnt have an incredibly lumpy idle.. so thats what i put in my engine. you could try the rockers as its a hell of a lot more simple...i could sell you some as now i have my cam i dont need them. theyre 1.98:1 ultra high ratios from mace.
my personal theory is that coppers arent gonna pick on you enough to see if you have a heap of mods and if they do they wont even notice you have them, unless you have big subs shiny wheels and cut springs like all the other p-platers haha.

i can agree with a lot of people saying:

    Don't waste your money
    and

    buy a V8
but this is the V6 development and modification section of the forum. If you're all so negative about modding a V6, why do we have this section???? (or more to a point, why are you reading posts here?)

My point is, if someone wants to mod a V6, be positive and offer help if you can.

Don't listen to the knockers. A cam/rockers, shift kit, diff gears+lsd, free flowing but not to loud exhaust etc will keep you out of trouble and help you avoid driving a gay, boring grandpa spec car for 4 years on your P's.

And remember, its only a waste of money if you look back and regret it

You can get good power out of a 6, if you build it properly, the 'buy a v8' comments are pointless in the V6 Development and Modification forum....

However you lost me at the 'hidden' part of the thread, where you want to do illegal performance enhancing modifications to hide from the cops.

    Mate, sorry, absolute drongo.

Every performance enhancing mod is illegal, if you know what a mod is, there is an equal chance there is a cop out there that knows what that mod is too, and will ping you for it. Cops also patrol these 'PUBLIC' forums....Not to mention that your insurance could also be void for breaching your license conditions.

    Fail Fail Fail....

If your modding a car on your P's, then you have to take the risk...none of this 'hidden' shit.

Lol at all the P platers with pod filters that get fine's for them when they do Sweet #### all

Provisional licenses are the next step up from a Learner's permit. The rules vary from State to State (typical for a country that is supposed to have a standardised Motor Vehicle Code), but basically newly licensed drivers are provided with a provisional license for up to three years, before they can progress to a full license.

In most states, a limitation applies which restricts the type of vehicle a P plater can drive. Generally, V8's, modified and Turbo charged cars are not permitted, though there are some grounds for exemption upon application. Westerna Australia doesn't impose these limitations yet.

Varies from state to state. In Victoria its:

Learners: 120 hours to be able to get P's (10 hours night driving) - able to drive any car. Allowed to tow.

Probationary: 1 year Red P's (1 peer passenger (16-21), no towing) 3 years Green P's, all passengers, allowed to tow)

Not allowed High powered 6 cylinders, or cars with 8 cylinders or more, or any form of forced induction unless on diesel.

No performance enhancing modifications of any kind.
