    Default vs ecotec

hi all 2 days ago my vs startet to mis fire then died and wouldnt start checked error codes and got 32 maf, 42 est bypass circuit fault, 47 crank angle ref signal. since then i have put new plugs, new purge hose from throttle body to intake manifold, cleaned throttle body, cleaned intake plenium, replaced crank angle sensor. still mis fires but can start, left bank doesnt seem to fire well.

dont get error code 32 or 42 anymore but still get 47(crank angle reference signal) any ideas?

with the crank angle sensor removed rotate the motor by hand (may need to remove the plugs first) and use a mirror if needed to see if you can see the black plastic piece in the cam gear that holds the magnet for the crank angle sensor. I have heard that these are fairly common to brake - I broke mine removing the cam from my engine

I believe the black plastic piece in the larger sprocket is for CAM angle Sensing and the sensor for it is mounted on the front of the timing cover...

I think you can remove the sensor from the timing cover without remover the cover itself. Then... With a torch, shining in the hole that the sensor was in... rotate the crank with a large socket and breaker bar on the main crank bolt (In the middle of the harmonic balancer) and you will eventually see if that plastic bit is still installed (as it should be)...

When the bit comes into view, you can also test it is still magnetic by touching it with something steel....

If you wanted to test the CAM angle sensor... do a swap with someone who has the same car/engine....

Cam angle sensor is just held in by 1 10mm bolt. May need a little jiggling to pull the sensor out as it has an o ring seal around the outside of it. Nothing else has to be removed to remove it. A faulty cam angle sensor however should not cause these symptoms.

Have you tried to identify which cylinder is causing the miss? With the engine running, 1 at a time, remove a plug from an injector. If removing the plug worsens the idle, put it back on and move onto the next as that cylinder is working fine. When you get to the cylinder that removing the injector plug doesn't change anything, then you've found what one it is.
