    Hey hobo206,

so far the things im lookin at are
    -cam $600
    -heads $1600
    -roller rocker $585
    -lifters $250
    -pushrods $125
    -timing chain $160
    -springs $100
    -acl rebuild kit ???

can any1 help me out with specs and rough prices for all these things
also how much power would i roughly gain

Depend on how aggressive you go with the cam, you’d be looking at around the 150rwkw give or take. I use that power figure very loosely as there are many variables influencing that figure

“and where is a good engine builder that does machine work in Adelaide”
    I can’t remember

    Hope this helps

    Cheers,

I recently got a quote from REPCO for an ecotec ACL rebuild kit and it was $900 so I would think that the S1 kits would be similar

-heads $1600 - i got a set of recon head wat would need doin to them coz i heard theres not alot to be done to a v6
-roller rocker $585 - would i need a bigger ratio
    -lifters $250
    -pushrods $125
    -timing chain $160
    -springs $100
    -acl rebuild kit ???

and yes this does help thank you

    Hi Hobo206

"-cam $600- wat sort of cam would i need for that sort of power"
It would be a custom ground item

"-heads $1600 - i got a set of recon head wat would need doin to them coz i heard theres not alot to be done to a v6"
In stock form the heads are fairly restrictive, really they need to be ported and fitted with a decent set of valves and possibly some bronze valve guides, new springs/retainers etc and be skimmed to help get the compression ratio up.

"-roller rocker $585 - would i need a bigger ratio"
We would supply our high ratio rockers to suit the cam/heads so that you will attain the maximum lift available (dictated by the heads/spring and retainers)

    "-lifters $255"
Depending on the condition of your lifters they may be reusable however a new set of high performance crow lifters would be good insurance.

    "-pushrods $125"
Push rods would have to be matched to the rest of the valve train. Generally the length would be worked out once the engine is screwed together.

    "-timing chain $160"
A must, the factory single row chain is a weakness of the V6 engine, we recommend the double row chain especially when fitting heavy duty valve springs.

    "-springs"
Would need to be matched to the cam specs.

"-"I recently got a quote from REPCO for an ecotec ACL rebuild kit and it was $900 so I would think that the S1 kits would be similar"

The race series rebuild kit would help to get the compression ratio up (9.6:1) standard or higher if the heads are skimmed. Ideally you would strip down the engine and measure it all up before purchasing the rebuild kit so you would know which oversize pistons to get as well as bearings etc.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

Yep Steve is 100% right, don't go getting a rebuild kit until you have the block/rods/crank at an engine builder so they can check and let you know what sizes you need
