    Default Buick V6 rev range

    Hey all.
I just installed a tacho in my S2 VP executive and wanted to know what the rev range is? I took it for a spin and at 4000rpm it sounded like it was screaming! The tacho is set to the 6 cylinder setting........

max torque at 3600, max power at 4800, i dont really understand the difference between power and torque, obviously torque is twisting power but what then what is power.

from the unofficial holden commodore archive:

    VN buick motor:
    Compression Ratio: 8.5:1
    Maximum power: 125 kW @ 4800 rpm
    Maximum torque: 292 Nm @ 3200 rpm

    VP buick motor:
    Compression ratio: 8.5:1
    Maximum Power: 127 kW @ 4800 RPM
    Maximum Torque: 293 Nm @ 3600 RPM

    VR buick motor:
    Compression ratio: 9.0:1
    Maximum Power: 130 kW @ 4800 RPM
    Maximum Torque: 295 Nm @ 3200 RPM

    hope this helps!

Torque is the measure of rotational force

Power is measure of the rate at which mechanical energy is being produced

Therefore 100kw at 2500 RPM will be producing twice as much torque as 100kW at 5000RPM
