hi guys,
i want to get a cam for my car but what else should i get done at the same time. looking at the wade 992a cam. i have $3,500ish
my car is a VT V6 manual
so far:
full exhaust system (pacemaker headers, high flow cat, 2.5" exhaust)
bored and polished TB and AFM
growler kit
plenum spacer
iridium plugs, 9mm leads and MSD coils
thats my engine mods so far.
on a side note:
i've done a full alpine sound system with dynamat
12" type R
6.5" splits type R
6x9"s type R
Alpine IVA-520E 7" touch screen
all new bushes with Monroe GT's and King springs
18" rims (advanti Miracles)
LED taillights with VX boot garnish
almost a full respray(just quarters and doors to go) all done at my brothers work (Miami Smash)
VY Calais Roof lining (yes all the lights work in a VT)
Gloss black dash (looks like glass)
and a heap of other things

higher ratio rockers maybe?
or if you can rebuild an engine yourself and have the tools and time to do so you can always stroke it.
from memory a stroker kit is about $2500 to buy brand new.
but if you get someone else to do it, it will most likely push the price up through the barrier you have set.
i was thinking more like, cam, dyno tune. but should i get valve springs, push rods etc? cam shouldn't be more than $800 the tune should be around $1200, labour i'm guessing around $800 leaving $700 for something else.
or save that $700 for the next big thing you want to do.
or try and find the best pushrods, valve springs, rockers to match up to your new cam. (in other words speak to the cam sellers, engine builders etc)
also you have the plenum spacer, what about the manifold spacer.
the 12mm (plenum) and 12mm (manifold) ones together can still fit an engine cover and close the bonnet.
when i first saw you wanted to spend $3500 i thought it ment $3500 after the cam =P
i have the manifold spacer i havent installed it on this car. been looking around and so far i'm thinking of buying wade cam 992a, crow valve springs #105, crow push rods, manley performance retainers, comp valve locks, hydraulic lifters and viton valve stem seals. i just need to find a place to get this installed. anyone know a shop around the gold coast? i live in southport i go down to miami alot. a place around here would be great.
If you are going to get your cam done, you might as well get rid of the Balance shaft and add in a double row timing chain and heavy duty Valve springs![]()
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
yep i've been looking at the double row. i really need to find a place to get all this done. i've tried hi torque performance, chip torque performance. hi torque dont do V6's and chip torque wont do the mods only the tune. does anyone know someone on the coast that can install this for me? i really want to get it done asap.
make sure you have an LSD under it too, what would be +comp without putting it to both the rears? lol
i would like to get a LSD but what ratio would you recommend for v6 Manual?
3:9s! go for it! lol
i was thinking more like 3.45 i found a recon for $800
fair enough, im guessing your not all about torque lol
thats not too bad a price for the LSD.
however is it worn out or already recoed?
sounds like a good plan you have and have got it all set out nicely
kepe us posted on how it goes for you.
i also want it to have some sort of fuel economy, max ratio i was looking at was the 3.45
just ordered the LSD with ratio 3.45. tomorrow morning i'll call up wade cams to get my 992a.
i got 3.9's and i paid $3000 for the diff, i feel ripped lol

man your diff will have polished chrome all over :P i've seen your thread and dude i want that car
yeah it should be but unfortunately its just black haha
let me explain the reason why mine is 3000 worth lol before everyone thinks i got ripped
i got the eaton trutrack installed (HIGHLY recommend this)
3.9 borg warner gears
upgraded to 8" housing
extra splines
thats why
you will see a CRAPLOAD of difference when you go from standard to 3.9's, the amount of G.O i got down low was amazing, like driving a new car, made my tacho out 20klms though, but an easy fix. its damn quick though, and the trutrack makes a hell of a difference aswell, its designed to be a single spinner unitll the mechanism feels force and locks up both wheels and starts spinning, designed to keep tyre wear to a minimum and save the life of the gears in the process..

100 shot of the giggle gas!!!
just got a quote done up from Wade Cams, $978 for the 992a, performance springs retainers and locks. now all i need is double row and lifters. cant wait till its al done.
nice choicehopefully it goes good

i hope so 2. maybe it'll go better if you throw one of those turbos my way :P
the guys at wade said i wouldn't need the double row and rods. should i still buy them as extra protection for my mods or save the money and use it on something else?
i've heard its best to get a stronger timing chain, not to sure about the rods though.
