    Post Increase kW

    Hi all

I drive a VX commodore equipe S2, and was looking at increasing the kW on the car. i have been told a pod filter, larger exhaust system, new performance spark plugs and leads can increase this. i believe the car is already at 152 kw standard, with a 3.8 engine. unfortunately i am only on my green P plates, so there is a 200 kw limit to the car. can anyone suggest what i should buy to increase the kw but stay legal? Cheers.

If theres a 200kw limit on cars for p-platers then that means we should be able to drive L67's...

Buy a second hand Mazda RX8. Less than 200kw, but will still beat standard V6 commodores to 100kph by nearly 2 seconds.

spark plugs and leads dont really do that much in terms of kw they just make the car run better... and just go with an CAI, exhaust and maybe some manifold spacers and dont worry to much about it after that
wait till your off your p's and go for some boost or a v8

Your really not going to get any where near the 200KW mark with out forced induction. You can do exhaust, CAI, Plenum spacers & Hi Ratio rockers. But after all that you might a few extra KW and better throttle response. wait till ya off ya Ps mate. But do remember the car is now 10 years or so old now and it has lost a few KW now, you might get them back with all that work.

    totally agree however

200kw is possible but of course the internals need to get some decent work done of Stroking and Possibly Boring
even then its not worth it for a V6. especially the costs involved.
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

Higher ratio diff gears won't increase kW, but will give you better acceleration off the line. In terms of making the car 'feel' faster, they would probably make more difference than engine mods when it comes to a V6. However, they will also increase your fuel usage (not sure how much, depends on what ratio you get) and put your speedo out. You can get the speedo corrected, but there's not much you can do about the fuel cost.
