just made a patern and bent it up out of polished 1.5 mm stainless sheet enclosed is a k&N pod filter that breathes from behind the headlight, rubber seal around the hole in the back and rubber on sharp edges, hopefully it keeps cool

Just remember, it's stainless steel not a sort of moulded plastic so it might create a heatsoak in it.

    Looks pretty good though.

I like it, very clean and tidy. I like shiny things.

a steel braided flexible link would complement the cai nicely

Seen some people use that spray foam from bunnings, you can get the fire resistant stuff for around $35 a can. You can also get header wrap that will stop heat from your exhaust manifold or even heat shields to stop the heat rising directly to your intake pipe, I have a bunnings cai, and 4" stainless intake pipe, only time I get signs of heat soak are really hot days sitting at idsle for 15mins+ waiting for the mrs lol. Then a little sluggish. Other than that no probs. Going a stainless heatshield for the exhaust manifold soonish though.
