    Pacemakers and a 2.5" exhaust
    ported T/B
ported and shaved heads compression is now 10.1
stage 2 cam from Comp cams
    3.7 diff gears
    lightened flywheel
    25mm plunem spacer and a 15mm T/B spacer

what kind of power will i be getting out of it??

and what would be the best tune get a custom memcal or this Kalmaker mafless thing????

Kalmaker is the software used to tune the ecu, it's a good software too.
You can keep or turf maf, all depends on what u want and how good the tuner is.. I like the idea of Map sensors myself.

That combo should give nice gains in the 150 region depending on dyno fuel and again how good your tuner is!
Post up a sheet in this thread once done mate.

You wont have that compression with just shaved heads, unless they have had a massive slice taken off them. Mine has flat tops and 90 thou off the heads (fly cuts to clear valves) and my tuner thinks its about 10.5 ish.

My own modified v6 has a single stock ecotec tb which i lightly ported to smooth the ridges. I dont have tb spacer, or lim spacer... i have a plenum spacer but i'm skeptical if it has done anything to help.

Being a VT manual will help your power output a lot, so long as the tuner is good at what he does

"MAFless tune" removes the MAF sensor (a possible restriction) and uses a MAP sensor instead. This needs to be plumbed into the plenum.

My Ute has a setup very similar to yours. I opted to switch the V6 MAF for one from the LS1 (three wire) which is less restrictive with custom piping into a Mace CAI.

ok thanks for the help dose anyone know if there is a good tuner in QLD with the Kalmaker software??? and I think flat tops and 90 thou off the heads is a hell of a lot. the only way to test is put a compression gauge on it.. the V6 ecotec has 9.4:1 from factory... I think you would be more up to the 11.5 and then it wont run right on pump fuel. or the person the shaved the heads is pulling your leg with say it has 90 thou off...

I have ACL +0.020" flattop pistons with 0.051" MLS head gaskets and 0.030" off the heads to give a (engine builders) reported 10.5:1 CR.

A Compression gauge won't give you your Compression ratio. It gives dynamic cylinder pressure, which is a variable reading that takes into account leakage past the rings and possible valves too.

Compression ratio or CR is worked out statically, by cylinder volume vs the compressed area above the piston between the head. So head gasket thickness and the volume of combustion camber in the head plus any recess in the piston.

I built the engine myself and sent the heads to a machine shop with the intake manifold and said 90 thou off the heads. It has 90 thou off the heads!

It runs perfectly fine on pump fuel, i can show you a video of it spinning up 7000rpm on the burnout pad if you like?

^^trust me I've seen his car and had my ass handed to me by him at dyno days!
90 thou is legit, doubters doubt all u want..

As for a good tuner in QLD na sorry I know of plenty of kalmaker tuners but haven't heard of one without a horror story to match. Best bet is find someone locally who's had a similar car tuned and wrack there brain and experience..

    Thumbs down

ok guys thanks for all the advice, but i have just come to a set back , i installed the new engine only to find there is a tapping noise in it and it is annoying the...... out of me , im thinking i have been had..the engine i bought change over reconditioned from higginbottom and currently in the prossess of trying to get the issue delt with , they seem to be telling me its the exhausted its this and its that everything thing else but the motor and heads I've had a couple of performance place have a listen and there telling me it sounds to be a litter noise all correct oils are used the exhaust is fine as I've had everything else checked they told me it was . so tomorrow it goes back to them, if they don't come to the party and fix there mistake i will be righting a letter to the media about how this work shop won't fix a faulty engine that the sold to a retired declarated soldier which will make them look really good .
but all in all i don't expect a honest acceptance of fault so i will be looking for a new build .can any one tell me of a honest supplier who can set me up with a good stroker kit, good bolt on's to sourse and most of all a good work shop in the wollongong area with a no bull ..... rep
